Any Centennial Middle School graduate or North Boulder resident is familiar with the little coffee shop tucked cozily on the corner between Lucky’s and Art Cleaners. This little shop has been pumping warm coffee and tasty pastries for 21 years.
Logan Patterson, the owner, has lovingly poured his heart and soul into the coffee shop, opening Logan’s at age 50. Now entering his 70s, Patterson can still be seen behind the bar taking orders and making drinks with his rotation of loyal baristas. However, Logan’s will not be around by the beginning of 2024.
Reported by the Daily Camera, in April, John Konidaris, 3960 Broadway’s landlord, informed Patterson he wasn’t renewing Logan’s lease. Now, Logan’s faces closure or a sudden new move.
Konidaris did not respond to a request through Facebook Messenger for a statement. His lack of response is similar to those experienced by the Daily Camera and The Boulder Reporting Lab who also reached out.
Patterson has considered changing locations but has ultimately decided that he doesn’t have the energy or desire to move Logan’s elsewhere.
What will happen to #101 is still being determined, especially as Konidais avoids the press. However, by January, Logan’s will have officially vacated the cozy little spot.
Even though Konidais is within his rights as a landlord, many community members feel robbed of years more of Logan’s. The comments on Patterson’s petition are filled with kind words of those heartbroken to see Logan’s go.
As one petition signer, Kiley Gurrier, writes, “Logan’s is a community pillar. The patio is always full of folks enjoying a good cup of coffee and conversation. This small business fits perfectly in the plaza with Lucky’s, the bakehouse, and the cafe…”
So as the leaves turn bright colors and a chill begins to nip, stop into Logan’s to enjoy the delicious creations of the sweet baristas before we say “so long, Logan’s”.
