Guest Opinion Contest:

The Owl is proud to host a monthly opinion contest! There’s no theme, but local & timely topics will be especially considered. To submit, please email hicohen01@bvsd.org your piece by the end of the month to be considered for the following month’s print issue. Opinions should be fully edited for typos and grammar mistakes before submission. Other guidelines to keep in mind are:

  • First name, last name and grade level must be submitted, alongside some means of contact (phone number or email).
  • Maximum length for guest opinions is 400 words.
  • No name-calling or ad hominem attacks (attacking the character of an individual).
  • Only BHS students may submit guest opinions.
  • We reserve the right to decide whether or not to print a piece.

Letter to the editor:

The OWL welcomes critiques and responses to past articles and publications. All letters should be submitted to jonathan.wright@bvsd.org through Google Drive. Other guidelines to keep in mind are:

  • First and last name and grade level are required, alongside some means of contact (phone number or email).
  • Maximum length for letters is 300 words.
  • Anonymous and open letters are accepted, but name and grade level must still be submitted.
  • All teachers, parents and students may submit letters to the editor.
  • No name-calling or ad hominem attacks (attacking the character of an individual).
  • We reserve the right to reject letters and opinions at our discretion; however, we will inform the writer of our reasoning if we do so.
  • Send questions to jamccarty01@bvsd.org or grmulligan01@bvsd.org.
