Ava Baranyi, ‘26, is a talented digital artist here at Boulder High. She has pursued art for as long as she can remember and says it is special because “there are no limits.”
Even though she feels limitless when creating, she struggles with comparing her art to her peers and professionals. However, she overcame this when, as she says, she “created my art style to pursue instead of trying to make it look like someone else’s art style.”
Artistic expression is limitless. Ava explains, “Anything you draw or paint or sculpt or photograph is art.” She mentions one part she loves about art is that there is no “formula.”
Ava is a pro at Photoshop. She says one of her proudest moments was when she finally felt like she was no longer struggling with the application. And for her, once she thought she was proficient, “It became a medium I enjoyed.”
At a young age, her love for art was inspired by her grandfather and his art, and today he is one of her biggest supporters. According to her, “He is always interested in my art projects and my process in creating a piece.” He supports her passion by giving her his old art materials, and as she says, “He ensures that I never stop making art.”
Her favorite piece she has made so far in doing digital art is of the Colosseum in Rome. She says this is her favorite for two reasons: she spent the most time on it, and “it’s the art project that makes me the happiest.”
Ava will not be producing digital art in the future but will continue making art as a film producer. This has been one of her biggest dreams. Being able to learn digital art has only “continued to fuel my love for art in general and keeps me inspired to create art,” she says.
