Initially, it is difficult to discern the chaotic rising action and the rapid-fire plot, but as the movie progresses, the purpose of the film becomes clearer. While Saturday Night is funny in some aspects, it is truly a movie about taking risks and how young people are often underestimated. 

This cast, while star-studded, is impeccably accurate and truly captures the comedic essence of the original SNL cast. Cast as SNL creator and producer Lorne Michaels, Canadian actor Gabrielle LaBelle does a fantastic job portraying the juxtaposing feelings of hope and utter chaos that Micheal faces as he navigates the perils of a first-time live TV producer. The viewer is introduced to Lorne, an egotistical comedic genius who struggles with the idea of not being good enough for the big screen. LaBelle truly captures Micheals’ bitter and self-destructive nature. 

Throughout the film, Micheals and the rest of the crew are underestimated just because of their age. The network questions the validity of this new project, thinking that the American people will not watch it. This creates strong dramatic irony when one knows the insane success that SNL has fostered, contributing to the unique humor that seeps into this movie. 

This film illustrates the fundamentals and values that Saturday Night Live has always championed and encapsulates the chaotic energy and the raunchy and often grotesque humor that has made SNL such beloved entertainment for decades. Overall, Saturday Night is a fun watch with friends and is truly a fantastic representation of the work and dedication it takes to bring a creative vision to life.
