Welcome back Panthers, this month we asked you guys what your least favorite holiday was, and we got some pretty good answers. In a poll of 77 students, just over a third of responses said that Easter was the worst holiday, but nobody really had a particular disdain over the holiday either. Many just put it plainly. “It’s mid,” muttered more than half of the 27 that found Easter to be bland and weird, highlighting the irony of a rabbit that delivers eggs.
The unsurprising second most hated holiday was Valentine’s Day, which I found funny because, like, just admit you got no game at that point. Students said it was “cringy as hell,” held “no purpose.” And while the holiday has decidedly turned into too much of a consumerist holdiay, at its roots its just about loving people, which I see no issue with. To finish the trifecta of Boulder High School’s least favorite holidays, Thanksgiving took third. And Thanksgiving came with a plethora of reasons, too much stress and hype surrounded the fabled Turkey Day; quite a few people even said that the turkey itself was no good which, when looked at through a reporters eyes, means that whoever is making the turkey for these people does not know what they are doing.
Certain students had other opinions ranging from Christmas to Fourth of July, everyone with their own reasons, but one jovial student said she “loved all holidays,” stating that holidays were for being happy, and are meant to bring joy to people, a refreshingly optimistic take. This positivity was something that I, along with many others, would love to see permeate throughout the school. Lastly, our janitor Eduardo said Halloween was the worst because people left lots of trash around the school, so I hope we all did our best to pick up after ourselves this year! See you next month panthers.
