This month writers at The Owl asked eachother, what is a good tell on what kind of people there are at BHS? And then we agreed, the music students listened to could give us an idea of who they were. So this month we asked, who is your favorite [musical] artist? The pool of responses was diverse, as expected, and not many artists were mentioned more than once.
Zach Bryan, however, stood out, as five students agreed that he was the best artist. But after listening to three of his songs I can comfortably say all of his music sounds the same, and I cannot exactly see where the hype is coming from. The chorus in Revival with that cool piano part is the only thing that sounds good and different. No hate to his listeners though.
Many students liked the soothing sounds of chill rap, artists like Mac Miller, Jcole, and Joey Bada$$, saying that the music was flowy, and the lyrics were great. One senior even went to the extent of saying he liked Frank Ocean because it “made him horny.”
Other responses ranged from indie, to classic rock, to Young Thug. Really showing how diverse the student body at Boulder High is. And although many people felt somewhat connected to their favorite artists, nobody was as enthusiastic as the student that said that Key Glock felt like his “evil twin.”
See you next month BHS.
