You would think farming and art would have nothing in common, but the agriCULTURE exhibit at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art proves they do when it comes to land rights, food accessibility, farming heritage and agricultural challenges.
BMoCA, our neighbor across Arapahoe Avenue, is currently hosting part of a large exhibit about agriculture in Boulder County. 18 different artists collaborated with farmers to create pieces that represent the challenges and social issues of farming.
At BMoCA, the pieces of eight artists are open to the public, with larger-scale sculptures being some of the main attractions. Along with sculpture, other mediums including cartography, painting, and even other digital media are included.
Unfortunately, BHS student interaction with BMoCA seems to be lacking, even though it’s right across the street. Zach Heil, who works in Visitor Services at BMoCA notes that: “The 18 and under [demographic] is one of the lower attended categories.”
BMoCA is, “a unique combination of a museum model that has all kinds of programming to offer… but it also has contemporary artists. Everything from international to local.” For only two dollars, BMoCA is absolutely a worthwhile experience.
The agriCULTURE exhibit will only be on display at BMoCA through October 1st, so now is the perfect time to go check it out
