My guess is that unless you’re a trust fund baby, even thinking about paying for college can be terrifying. A lifetime of student debt most likely isn’t anyone’s cup of tea. Lucky for you, Boulder High is holding a Financial Aid Night on Thursday, September 26th. This event will be held in the auditorium for English speakers and in Spanish in the library. Both presentations are from 6-7 PM. Financial Aid Night is mostly for seniors and families of seniors, but all are welcome.

In addition, know that there are many scholarship options out there, so it helps to do your research. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form used to determine eligibility for student financial aid. You should complete this form even if you don’t think you will be eligible for a need-based scholarship. FAFSA opens October 1st. Additionally, many colleges offer Institutional Aid which often provides more money and is renewable for four years. You should look at your college of interest to see what merit and need-based options they have. Naviance is another great resource for finding scholarships that fit for you. The Naviance scholarship database contains many local or regional scholarships that can be used for lots of two- or four-year colleges of your choice. Be sure to do your research and don’t miss deadlines!
